Peter grew up in Iran, Kenya, and North Carolina as the son of missionaries.  He graduated from the Rift Valley Academy then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC).  While at UNC Peter studied abroad in Kenya and France.  He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).  Spiritually Peter had many ups and downs in his faith as he sought to work out the teachings he had received from a young age with real world experience.  His walk with the Lord was filled with times of fervor and other times where he struggled to live out his faith.  It was at Faith Missionary Church in Indianapolis, where Peter grew in his walk with the Lord by serving in various ministries and accepting a call to full time ministry.

Julia grew up in Chicagoland as a daughter of Korean immigrants.  She graduated from Conant High School and the University of IL, in Urbana/Champaign.    She pursued further studies at Rush Medical School in Chicago and completed training at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.  Julia was raised in a Christian environment but is wasn’t until after a medical accident that she began some deep soul searching that led her to trust Jesus with her life.

Julia met Peter while studying at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. They were married in 2001.  God blessed them with three children while they lived in the Indianapolis area for 11 years.  While in the Indianapolis area they volunteered at the Faith Missionary Church (FMC).

It was during their time at FMC that Peter began to take seminary courses. After taking distance education classes, the family uprooted and moved to the Chicago area so that Peter could complete his MDiv at Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL.  During seminary training, Peter served at Grace Baptist Church as an assistant Pastor in the English Ministry.  Upon completion of an MDiv, Peter served as a hospital chaplain.  In 2017-2018 Peter was part of the Reach Chicago Residency program for church planters.  During this time, friends and family joined the LeBlancs to form a core group that worked to plan and prepare for the launch of the Beacon Community Church.  Peter and Julia have lived along with their children in Barrington Hills since 2013.

The mission of The Beacon is to embody God’s love to inspire whole-hearted devotion to Him.

The primary area of service is the Hoffman Estates area around the intersection of 59 and 72 (Higgins road).  There are 160,000 residents within 5 miles of this intersection.  This is where the towns of South Barrington, Barrington Hills, and Hoffman Estates all come together.  Peter and Julia look forward to serving this area for as long as the Lord directs and empowers.
